A truly captivating and deeply romantic antique lover's eye miniature portrait pendant — an extraordinary hidden treasure, dating to circa 1900.

This beautifully unusual square-form pendant is crafted in warm 14ct gold (marked ‘585’ within the larger bail), intricately engraved throughout with elegant scrolling foliate detail to both front and reverse. The cover is particularly mesmerising: a vivid red guilloché enamel panel radiates from a central old cut diamond-set six-point star, framed by a crisp white enamel border — an incredibly striking and symbolic design that feels both sentimental and celestial.

The concealed compartment opens to reveal the true heart of the piece: a finely painted lover's eye miniature portrait, preserving the intimacy and mystery so beloved in these rare keepsakes. Lover's eye jewels remain among the most evocative forms of sentimental jewellery, historically commissioned as deeply personal tokens of affection, often intended only for the wearer or their chosen recipient.

The central diamond measures approximately 1.75mm in diameter, adding a subtle yet beautiful antique sparkle.

There are hallmarks within the larger bail, including '585', a floral motif, and additional partially illegible marks (possibly including a bird mark, potentially Czechoslovakian in origin, though unconfirmed). Due to age and scale, some marks remain indistinct. The fixed bail also carries an illegible mark. As with many antique sentimental jewels, minor age-related wear is present, adding to her authenticity and story.

A wonderfully rare and collectable conversation piece — equal parts miniature art, symbolism, and antique romance.
